Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix as the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova), and Colby Carter. Her mother, who hails from Mexico is Mexican, Spanish and French. She is the sister of Vincent as well as a brother and Pamela as a sister. Carter aged 5 was the first public TV star to make her debut at Lew King's Talent Show. In high school, Carter joined a group named Just Us. The group played marimba, conga drums an acoustic and stand-up basses. One of the girls in the group was also a guitarist. Lynda began singing at a local pizza restaurant when she was 15. When she was 16, Lynda was a member of two cousins in forming another bandcalled The Relatives. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer of the group. The group was first introduced in the Sahara Hotel and Casino lounge in Las Vegas for three months; because Carter was not 21 she must have entered through the kitchen.Carter attended Arizona State University. She was voted "Most gifted" and decided to get into the world of music. Carter auditioned in the year 1970 and was on the tour of The Garfin Gathering's bandleader Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first show together was at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk access. The hotel's staff as well as hotel guests drove their cars into the underground parking garage meant that they were mainly performing to the hotel's guests. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit" as well as in a variety of Nevada's casino lounges. Carter had to quit the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972 and returned to Arizona.
