Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, born in Wellington,) is the name of a Canadian actor from Canada. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's acting debut was in the role of Flora McGrath. For this role she received the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. She is the second-youngest winner in Oscar History. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was a Canadian born New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won the Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the enthusiastic and lively character Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) earned her the prize. The actress was chosen to play Flora McGrath the daughter of a blind Scottish pianist, who in the middle of 19th century, moves into New Zealand for an arranged marriage when she responded to an open audition call when she was just nine years old. She had little previous experience as an actor. When she was a teenager she emigrated to the United States. Paquin was in a brief role as the title character when she was just a young girl in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and a lead part in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997, she played the queen of Spain in a smaller character. The role she played was for teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) and A Walk on the Moon (2000). She portrayed her character groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
